USDA Certified Organic
The Black Limbertwig apple is a spicy, aromatic variety, with hint of herbal spice. Excellent for fresh eating, apple butter and highly regarded for cider. The Black Limbertwig apple contains a distinctive juicy, yellow flesh. The Black Limbertwig apple tree is considered the oldest of Limbertwigs earning the name by many as the "Old Fashion Limbertwig". The Black Limbertwig apple tree is one of our favorite, almost extinct delicacies, for all purpose use of fruit and ease of growing. It lends its reputation as a very disease resistant apple and provides a beautiful aesthetic with its weeping growth habit. This tree remains with us thanks to late Henry Morton of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, who is recognized as the one to locate, propagate and restore dozens of “lost” Limbertwig varieties back in the 1980's.
