Allington Pippin apple tree was raised from King of the Pippins x Cox's Orange Pippin before 1884 by the nurseryman Thomas Laxton of Lincolnshire, UK. The name Allington Pippin was given to this variety in 1894 by the nurseryman George Bunyard after the village of Allington. The Allington Pippin apple has cream colored flesh mellowing to intense fruit drop (candy) or pineapple taste. The Allington Pippin apple also has a sharp (acid) undertone making it fine selection for cooking as it holds its shape. The Allington Pippin apple is medium-size, conic with some reddish flush or stripes over green or yellow skin.
