Honan Red Persimmon tree produces heavy crops of medium size, deep red acorn shaped fruits. Rich, sweet flavor fruit is smooth with a fiber-free texture. The Honan Red persimmon is excellent for fresh eating or drying. When fully ripe no sense of puckering unless consuming the core which retains a bit of astringency. Heavy producing and astringent until ripe.Fruit ripens by October. Produces very few, if any, seeds. Introduced to the states in 1917 by Dr. Nathanael Fedde. The trees diameter (caliper) is often 1/2 to 3/4 inch; *As noted by University of California Scientists and other qualified professionals the most successful trees often have caliper from 1/2" to 5/8" and usually establish faster than smaller and larger planting stock. .
